About NetSpeedLite.com
NetSpeedLite.com is a free internet speed test that measures your download speed, upload speed and ping latency in seconds. There is nothing to install and no account to create - open the site, press start, and get your real connection speed.
How the test works
The test is powered by M-Lab NDT7, the open-source measurement protocol developed by Measurement Lab and used by Google's own speed test. NDT7 measures your connection against neutral, globally distributed servers over WebSocket, which gives a more realistic picture of your internet performance than tests hosted by your own ISP.
What we measure
- Download speed - how fast data travels from the internet to your device. This affects streaming, browsing and downloads.
- Upload speed - how fast data travels from your device to the internet. This matters for video calls, cloud backups and posting content.
- Ping (latency) - the round-trip time for a small packet, in milliseconds. Lower is better, especially for gaming and calls.
